The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions [MSCA] supports excellence and innovative scientific training, as an opportunity for researchers to acquire new knowledge and skills, through transnational and cross-sectoral mobility within doctoral programmes, post-doctoral training and collaborative research projects.
MSCA General principles
• any scientific fields is eligible, freely chosen by the Principal Investigator according to the bottom-up approach;
• the respect of the mobility rule, i.e. the researchers must not have resided or carried out their main research activities in the European country of the host organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment date /the call deadline;
• the EC financial contribution is based on unit costs expressed in person-months; it covers the cost for the employment contract of the researcher, the research and training activities and an allowance for the management and the indirect costs declared by the host institution;
• proposals are evaluated by international experts according to the criteria of excellence, impact and quality and efficiency of the implementation.
Main MSCA types of actions
• Doctoral Networks [DN]: addressed to doctoral candidates, i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment, these actions aim to increase the attractiveness of excellence training in Europe, as well as to strengthen relations between academic sectors and not, through the inclusion of the young researchers in research projects realised by European partnerships between universities, research institutions and/or SMEs.
• Postdoctoral Fellowships [PF]: aim to enhance the creative and innovative potential of researchers of any nationality holding a PhD, providing them the opportunity to diversify their individual competences through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility, and to carry out research and innovation activities in a European context [EU Member States and Associated Countries] or outside Europe.
