The Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro [LNL] is one of the four national labs of the Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics [INFN].
The LNL in particular is a leading European accelerator laboratory. Research activities cover Nuclear Structure and Dynamics, Applied Nuclear & Material Science, Accelerator Physics and Technologies, specifically related to superconducting linear accelerators and high current machines. The LNL is strongly related to the University of Padova that has a long and well established history in Nuclear Physics research.
Strength points of the Laboratory are the development of particle accelerators and of nuclear radiation detectors. LNL have been recognized at European level as a Research Infrastructure with Transnational Access. In addition, the Nuclear Research groups of Padova University have expertise on nuclear structure at the limits of spin and isospin, nuclear reaction dynamics at low, intermediate and ultra-relativistic energies, nuclear astrophysics and civil security applications of nuclear physics.
