The NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme promotes dialogue and practical cooperation between NATO member states and partner countries based on scientific research, technological innovation and knowledge exchange.
Objective of the SPS Programme is to fund security-related activities relevant to NATO’s strategic objectives, which address SPS Key Priorities, in order to develop innovative solutions to emerging security challenges and their impact. SPS offers grants for Multi-Year research and development Projects and Events (Advanced Research Workshops, Advanced Study Institutes and Advanced Training Courses).
Applications for Multi-Year Projects must be developed and submitted jointly by one or more applicants from NATO nations and one or more from NATO partner countries.
Projects involving more than one NATO country and one partner nation are encouraged, as well as the participation of early stage researchers.
Applicants must be affiliated with a government, academic or other non-profit institution.
Projects have a typical duration of 24 to 36 months.
There are no hard funding limits; for three-year projects, a budget of between € 250.000 and € 400.000 is estimated.
The contribution may be used to cover expenses incurred for equipment and consumables, training and travel for participation in meetings, conferences and seminars, communication and publication activities, stipends to supplement the income of early stage researchers and co-financing of personnel costs of staff involved in the project.
Proposals must be submitted by 5 January 2025 via the SPS grant platform at https://natosps.grantplatform.com/, where you can find all documents required for a complete application.
